About This Information Site and How to Verify an Institution

What this site is

This is an independent information resource about online higher education. It is built on a historical record of Branton University as it appeared on the web in 2015, and it uses that record to explain how distance programmes, fees and accreditation work.

What this site is not

  • It is not operated by the institution and has no authority to speak for it.
  • It does not accept applications, registrations or payments.
  • It does not offer degrees, diplomas, certificates, scholarships or discounts.
  • It does not provide a contact route for the institution, and it has no staff available to answer enrolment questions.

Who to ask instead

If you need reliable answers, go to bodies that can actually provide them:

  1. The education ministry or equivalent authority in your country. It can tell you whether an institution is licensed and whether its awards are recognised.
  2. A national credential-evaluation or recognition service. These services assess foreign awards for employment and study.
  3. The accrediting body itself, and then the authority that recognises that accreditor. Our page on accreditation lists a routine to follow.
  4. Your employer or the university you want to progress to. They decide whether a qualification counts.
  5. Consumer-protection agencies, if you have already paid a provider and have a dispute.
